Resurrection Power

You Don’t Fight for Victory—You Live From It

What in my life would change if I actually lived like the resurrection power of Jesus was in me every day?

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. - I Peter 1:3-7

9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. 10 But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. - Romans 8:9-11

18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might 20 that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. 22 And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all. - Ephesians 1:18-23

Opening Thoughts

  • Living hope = a present, active, ongoing confidence because Jesus has resurrected and is alive

  • Many Christians believe in the resurrection, but don’t live in the power of it

  • Living like the tomb is empty should produce a life that looks markedly different

  • But are we actually living in it? Or are we living like we’ve been left on our own to suffer?

“We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.” - II Corinthians 4:8-10

What Resurrection Power Produces in Us

Victory in Our Daily Battles

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written,“For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 8:31-39

  • You’re not fighting for victory—you’re fighting from it

  • The Spirit that raised Jesus now lives in you

  • Key Thought: No battle is too big. No failure is final.

Victory Over the Enemy’s Lies

13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. 15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him. - Colossians 2:13-15

  • The cross paid for sin; the resurrection exposed the lies of the enemy

  • Living hope replaces lies with truth

  • Key Thought: Stop agreeing with the enemy. Start living in what God says is true.

Victory in Perseverance and Purpose

He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. - Philippians 1:6

  • God doesn’t forget what He started

  • Even when you feel stuck, resurrection power is still working in you

  • Key Thought: Your waiting isn’t wasted. Your pain isn’t pointless.

Conclusion

You don’t fight for victory—you live from it.

  • Resurrection power isn’t just a future promise—it’s present power

  • You’re not defined by your battle, your past, or your doubts

  • Key Thought: Because Jesus rose, you can rise too

Reflective Questions

  • What lies have I been believing that resurrection truth cancels?

  • Where in my life have I been trying to win in my own strength?
