Show Me Your Face
25 For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth. 26 And after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God, 27 whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. My heart faints within me! - Job 19:25-27
5 I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you, 6 therefore I despise myself, and repent in dust and ashes.” - Job 42:5-6
In times of suffering, what if God was offering us something more than answers?
God Gives More
God’s desire is to give you more than answers to your questions.
More than answers, God wants to give you revelation.
What if in our suffering, God was preparing us to receive a revelation of who He is?
The Revelation of Jesus
How do we go from knowledge of God to relationship with Him?
Jesus
16 For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known. - John 1:16-18
If we want to see God, we must look to Jesus
Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” 8 Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. - John 14:5-10
How to Get the Revelation of Christ
Drop your Concepts
21 From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. 22 And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord! This shall never happen to you.” 23 But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.” - Matthew 16:21-24
To deny ourselves means to drop our concepts.
It is very helpful to pray,
“Lord, help me to drop every concept that veils me. I want to empty myself of everything that keeps me from seeing a revelation of You.”
What Does the Revelation of Jesus Translate To?
Repentance
We can’t genuinely behold God without falling into repentance
Wanting more of Him
When we behold Him, we want more of Him because everything else in this world is insignificant
Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! - Psalm 34:8
